Irresponsibility or immaturity?

I have 29 years. I do not feel old or old-fashioned . However, teaching at university and work with new graduates at all times has made me see that something happens (or does not pass) through the minds of young people in their early-20's . My friend

Octavio is a manager at the company where he works. Have at the moment, 3 dependents. A week ago they were 4. What happened to the fourth person made me think that instead of forward, going backward.

At home he spoke with a friend who convinced him to return to work the next day. And he did.

I guess that would have been a sign that something was wrong there, but when Octavio told me he saw it as childish perhaps, but nothing to worry about. I then thought this guy does not last 1 year but said nothing.

work in the office of Octavio is complicated, it looks like what I do in many respects. Work making plans for the industry (like me) and time is important, so that sometimes lasts for weeks in the office Monday through Sunday until after 9 pm with completing such a project and have it ready the day of delivery. Not many people hold that pace.

Javier does not know English, and Octavio need your people can read, speak and write well English, so I began to pay tuition to Javier. Months passed. According

What did Javier was irresponsible and unprofessional. I had an image of immaturity and instability of the boy but something beyond the limits.

Financial Freedom Part 1: Step 1

Note: I am not an accountant, financial advisor, do not work in the bag or anything. I'm just someone who wants to stop living in debt and shares techniques and tips used by many ordinary people with results. Pripio Use at your own risk.)

The first thing to do when you make a plan to tidy up your financial life is to have your goals clearly defined. And every goal must have a start date and end defined. "Pay off my debts before I retire" does not count, sorry. In addition, is vital that your goals are written . Why vital? Well, apparently your little hand writing on a sheet of paper your goals it makes you feel that are tangible, achievable. You can write in a notebook, notepad, napkin! what's important here is that they are written.

Start by listing your goals (dates not think of right now) do not have to be in order of importance, simply enter your financial goals, but try to be clear. dates have all your goals pass them in clean, but now sort them by date of onset . If two targets have the same start date, first enter you must have completed first. Done!

This is an example of how it would be your long term goals:

1. debt pay off my credit card Banamex - January 2009 / July 2010. Pay
2. personal loan - January 2009 / January 2011.
3. Gather emergency fund equivalent to 2 weeks pay or - February 2009 / November 2009.
4. Start studying a trade (to decide between cutting / tailoring, welding and air conditioning technician) - August 2009 / Open but not before August 2010.
5. Gather emergency fund equivalent to 1 year's salary - January 2011 / January 2013.
6. have paid my funeral and my mom - January 2012 / January 2013.
   
7. Make my Will - August 2012 / September 2012. Join
   
8. college fund "H" - February 2013 / August 2023.
   
9. Save 50% of my salary for my retirement - February 2013 / My retirement (tentatively in February 2045). Study
10. another race (Veterinary) - August 2015 / August 2020.
11. Having saved enough money to retire at 60 if I so choose in 2040.

Every 6 months, review your goals and pay special attention to those that start within the next six months, and looks flat or searching for information in advance. Delete from your list that already meets the goals and sets new goals in your previous review had not contemplated. Set dates where you think necessary.

To have your goals defined in this way will help you not feel overwhelmed by all the things you know you should do but do not know where to start. Also, how will you achieve your goals if you do not even know well what?

Remember that no one will do this job for you. It's your life and your peace of mind.

Band reviews - Introduction

I love music. I love discovering new bands, and although most do not surprise me when I find a group that I like from the beginning I get excited and try to listen and learn from them as possible.

The "discover" a group for me is not just meeting a new Bandilla (good or bad) in their first or second album. Discover a group can also mean that, after learning of the existence of a group, later (sometimes years later) hear more about them and you realize that you love.

An example: despite having long heard of Cat Power in magazines or the internet, I reused to fall into the trap. A day came in my car listening IMAGE 105.5 (sappy but that's it) and was about to start the program by Jorge Fernandez Menendez, who I love to hear, as well as having views very close to mine, every day puts a different disk and speaks of the artist in question - from The Cure, Radiohead to jazz, cumbia, salsa and bossa-well, the day begins your program with a beautiful song that struck me very much for the lyrics, the simplicity and sincerity of the singer's voice and the connection of music with everything else. Half a song starts to talk Jorge praising the song (called The Greatest ) but mostly praising the artist, nothing more and nothing less than the usual Cat Power. Arriving home I got the internet, I searched his records and a few months depues that day, I must say that her music is wonderful - particularly the feeling with which she sings, makes it stand out from all others.

I decided to talk a bit about the bands and artists I listen, and take as guide my itunes library (it's easier this way and not run the risk of forgetting any). I do not expect every band that talk is a Discovery for the rest of society (Led Zeppelin, for example), but I hope that if you read here about a band that are not familiar, at least given a chance equal and becomes your new favorite band ... ;)

Surely these now you know them, and even very likely to have a focus (or several) of these in your home. They are called compact fluorescent bulbs , and English are known by the acronym CFL.

Financial Freedom! Introduction

The main reasons I had to start writing a blog, in addition to music, animals, caring for the environment, and so was able to share with other people who do not speak English (or reads) information on how to live without debt. In English there are a lot of information (perhaps too much) but in English, not so much. The next few weeks I will focus more on this, but I will continue writing in the other sections of the blog.

I pay all the money I pay, saving for retire before 60 years with my husband and live my last 20 or 30 years and enjoying the quiet life in Canada. I have 29 years and a fixed income so I think I have enough time to do it (although I must confess that I would have started with this plan from a few years ago, but hey, better late than never!).

From the day after tomorrow will begin a series of steps to pay all your debts without starving yourself, and once paid, you can use money to finance your future (ie, your retirement).

For those who like to rock (in any genre) you probably already know the line-up of the Coachella festival this year. In 2009, as recent years, the festival lasts 3 days (previously only 2) and the main attraction are the last 3 bands each day (please click on picture to see a larger version of the flyer).

FRIDAY 17: 42 bands this day, I know 9 of them (which must be a record: P). Close Mr. McCartney, but for me the day are interesting Morrissey and Ferdinand (despite the new releases of these two seemed not the best). Leonard Cohen at Coachella? WTF!

SATURDAY 18: 42 groups as well, but I know only 3 of them: S. .. I guess most will go to see The Killers , and I like much, but I love to see Amy Winehouse live.
SUNDAY 19
: I know groups of 37 to 7. The Cure closes, so of course there will be, and as icing on the cake, see also the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and My bloddy Valentine ...

Tickets for one day, announcing as of 99 dllrs come out at the end of 120 or more after all the fees inventing >:(... as ticketmaster, I have my ticket for Sunday And if you're rich and want to go to the three days, for the modest sum of 269 dllrs (which will be coming to end in more than 290) can buy tickets to go on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Hay (as I recall, 2004) at least 2 big stage where they are playing groups all the time, but apart is the tent electronics, where there all day listening Punchis-Punchis excellent dj's and artists in this genre (Madonna recently presented in this tent). The event is not only musical, since there are exhibitions of sculptures and paintings all over the place, so there is enough material to not get bored.

If you want to go and see only 1 group may be better to not wait to see them alone elsewhere (you will come much cheaper) ... but if you the money to go, and at least a couple of groups in the line-up that you love, is probably a good idea to go :)...

few days ago on yahoo answers page someone asked about a financial recovery plan "home "... Did you mean this person exactly? Well, he was financially in the red, with a debt that had to continue to pay and a family to continue to maintain and asking for advice on how to get out of this crisis, using tips and that it would work to pay their debts gradually and at the same time, be able to start saving for the future ...

This was my response:

1. Make a list of all your income, your salary, commission, bonus, income from others living with you and help with household expenses. This amount should be after taxes, or actually how much cash to accounts. I do this every day 1st month.


2. Make three lists for your expenses. In the ready to write those who can not avoid and which are practically fixed mortgage, your car payments, credit cards, tuition loan payments, etc. In LIST B iran expenses you can not help but may vary from month to month: saving, electricity, telephone, gas, water, food, clothing, school supplies, etc. In the end, in LIST C enter expenses that are superficial and can be readily reduced: street food, snacks, movies, books, music, concerts, gifts, etc.. Sort each of these three lists getting to the top of each the most important category and finally the least important. Already ordered your three lists, join them: to the top of A, then the cost of the final B and List C.


3. Write next to each category you think the amount allocated to cover that month. Try to be realistic here. Add up all your planned expenses.


4. If the result you get is less than your monthly income (in point no.1), commit to spending no more than what was agreed in each category. Save the remaining (even 50 or 100 pesos) for emergencies and only for emergencies (called emergency fund and will grow if you save your surplus each month.)


5. If the result you get is higher (does not reach you with what you earn), is reducing the amount you spend on each category from the bottom of your list up. If you delete a category, even better. Do this until your planned expenses for the month are equal (less if possible) to your monthly income.

Plus ...

• Buy a tiny notebook and bring it with you everywhere: List all expenses you do (all, even a gum or cigarettes) and a weekly check how close are the limit to be allocated to that category. Remember, when you reach the limit, no longer spend on that for the rest of the month!


• Ah yes! If you know that you will have strong spending in the months ahead (eg new tires for the car within 4 months) is to include this expense in your budget for the coming months. Divide the cost will you do between the number of weeks you have to save and set aside the money every time you get paid, that way, when passing the 4 months, and you will have the money to your tires and not suffering because you can not collect the money from one day to another.

I know it is very little information, but broadly this can help. It is very important to get discipline and strength to respect your limits and do not overdo expenditure in any category (although in the list A if you pay more for better: D). Good luck, I'm in the same situation as you but I take her there and I can sleep at night knowing I have a plan and that at the end of the month I will have enough money to pay my debts and save a bit:) Planning is key!

In my previous post I talked about how we need a change in attitude by society Mexicali to try to make this city a cleaner.

Of course there are cities with problems like this much larger (Tijuana, for example) but that's no excuse to allow our city to have garbage dumped streets ... (

If there are cities with populations greater than Mexicali and have a clean image, we can do the same. The problem rather than resources (which also has something to do) is that there is a culture of caring and keep your city clean and beautiful ... We Mexicali much as long as this does not mean to make any extra effort to make it look better for visitors and foremost, for ourselves and our families.

What can we do? Here are some ideas about small actions can make a difference:

• You are walking, sipping a soda, will the finish and throw the can or bottle in the street? No "strip" the pot but leave it very carefully on the sidewalk, a wall, the hood of a car nearby? IS THE SAME! Do not pass anything if you keep loading the bottle a few more minutes to find a boat near a park, outside a business or home.


• When you go to buy dollars, do not throw the ticket they give you in the street, better check it out quickly and throw it in small boats or boxes that are specifically for this many exchange (or multi). If there is little boat in sight, give the ticket to the person at the counter and ask them to pull the piece of paper for you (there should be a trash can inside the house to change.)


• When you smoke in your car, do not throw your cigarette butt out the window, use your ashtray please! If you are driving, but come no smoking, use the ashtray for ashes too. You hear absurd, but many of those who know they do it?


• Speaking of cars, do not throw trash out the window! Nothing cost us to have a box or bag in the car where we do not interfere and put the trash there, arriving at our destination we empty the box in a trash can. If you make a long trip with several people aboard that will generate garbage in the road (food, napkins, empty wrappers, etc) tell everyone before you start driving that is a bag for garbage and ask them to use it. • Try to keep the sidewalk and street in front of your house free of litter. With the wind this waste ends up in the sewers causing the chaos that you know when it rains for more than 20 minutes in this city. Moreover, it gives a bad appearance. Nor is it that bars the dirt and dust on your bench all day, but at least try to collect garbage, cans, paper, plastics, etc.


• Take your dog to walk right before you eat: if you take the dog to the park in your car (like me) you avoid vomit if you get dizzy (I learned this a little late: S. ..). It is also less likely to happen will make one of her half the way through. If that comes to pass, bring a couple of bags on hand and pick up after your dog. Throw the bag into the nearest boat.


• Keep the exterior of your house clean and tidy. A clean house (not beautiful or luxurious necesariamiente) gives a better impression than a beautiful and new but dirty. Paint your house if you need a retocadita (I need to do that), you will instantly look more clean and nice to your street.
