If you've ever seen the work of Lynch, you know that it is not clear or straightforward. After the first season (which ended in a cliffhanger , something also innovative in that time and now virtually all series do), such was the urgency of the public to know the identity of the murderer that the network pressured Lynch to reveal it as soon as possible. Once they knew who had killed Laura Palmer in the middle of the second season, the program's rating declined considerably and it was decided to end the series with only two seasons and 30 episodes.
