Band reviews: Aerosmith

Although not one of my favorite bands or I would buy a ticket to go see them (unless they came to Mexicali) must be recognized that Aerosmith is a very popular, especially with people over 30 years ...

The last time was in be fan of them was when they made the song "I Do not Want Miss a Thing " (you can see the video here ) the Armageddon movie soundtrack (I've never seen her completely and I have no plans to do so ever - lol .) This song, besides being the only single in the top spot of Billboard, he was nominated for an Oscar for best original song (by the aforementioned film).

The origin of the group was the late 60's in Boston (USA), when Tyler (vocals) played with his own group (Chain Reaction) and came to share the stage with The Byrds, The Beach Boys and The Yardbirds (still Jimmy Page). In one of his concerts, Tyler listen to a band called The Jam Band and decided to join forces with them and do something different. Hence, Aerosmith was born in 1969 with its first official presentation next year receiving a great response from people.

The group signed its first contract with Columbia in 1972 and in January of '73 Aerosmith disc goes on sale, including the single and the group's masterpiece, Dream On .

From there the group has released 13 other albums and officers are to launch their new album (yet unnamed) this year but are just beginning the process of recording. The new record will feature old stuff (from even 20 years ago) and new material ... be seen.

I discovered the group in '93, with the album Get A Grip . I was in high school and my best friend's dad had several albums by Aerosmith, and the stereo was always as Get A Grip. If you were a teenager in those times you probably also saw the videos on MTV disk where Alicia Silverstone appeared, Edward Furlong (love Platonic any teenager in the early 90's) and launching the career of actress Liv Tyler, daughter of Steve. You could hear the singles Living 'On The Edge, Cryin', Amazing and Crazy all the time on the radio. For me it was difficult at that time believe that the group had begun to play in the 70's! I was convinced only when checking the song Dream On was the first album - released in 1973 ...

The band's style goes through many genres, but the blues is predominant in their music. Have an identifiable musical style and Tyler's voice is easily recognized, which is vital to any group that wants to succeed (which is missing 95% of the new groups today.) Despite maintaining its style, the group's evolution havisto disk to disk, and each can find jewelry.

One of the biggest criticism was welcome to use employees hired by the label for co-writing songs, combining the lyrics that the group is based on a "little help" to make the song more commercial (and hence more profitable).

Although not totally my style and I get angry if I hear an album full of them, I know people who are followers of the group. Like everything else, a matter of taste.

As I have always thought, if you're starting to hear a group is better start with the collections (if any), and from there with what I found most interesting. I recommend the O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits because it comes in chronological order (which helps you see the evolution of the group) and covers from Aerosmith start to 2002 in 30 songs. It is very complete.

you've never heard? Start with: Dream On, Livin 'on the Edge, Crazy, Cryin', Amazing, Pink, Walk This Way.

...

Well, this was my first band review. I'm going to jump to J , and my next review will be of a more dark and more my style: Joy Division .
